From Apprentice to Professional: 3 Success Stories
Every journey begins with a single step. For these three remarkable individuals, that step was joining the More Techies Apprenticeship Programme. Their stories are a testament to the power of structured learning, mentorship, and determination.
Adaeze - From Job Seeker to Electrical Installation Expert
Adaeze graduated from university with a degree in History but could not find meaningful employment. After two years of searching, she decided to try something different. She enrolled in the More Techies Apprenticeship Programme, choosing the electrical installation pathway.
"I was sceptical at first," she admits. "I had never held a screwdriver in my life. But the programme was designed for complete beginners, and the mentors were incredibly patient."
Six months later, Adaeze completed her apprenticeship and was offered a position at a building services company. Today, she leads a small team and earns more than many of her university classmates.
Chidi - Building a Plumbing Business
Chidi always knew university was not for him. After his WAEC exams, he spent two years at home while his parents tried to raise funds for his education. When he heard about the More Techies programme, he saw an opportunity.
He chose the plumbing pathway and threw himself into the work. "The hands-on approach was perfect for me," he says. "I learn by doing, and that is exactly what the programme offered."
After completing the two-year programme, Chidi did not look for a job. Instead, he started his own plumbing business. He now employs two apprentices of his own.
Fatima - A Career in Solar Energy
Fatima had always been interested in renewable energy but had no idea how to break into the field. The More Techies Apprenticeship Programme offered a solar energy installation pathway that caught her eye.
"The programme gave me everything I needed: technical skills, safety training, and real-world experience," she says. "By the time I finished, I was confident enough to handle installations on my own."
Fatima now works with a renewable energy company and is saving up to fund her own solar installation startup.
