Nigeria's food system runs on information that most Nigerians cannot see. Prices for rice, yam, tomatoes, garri and hundreds of other staples move sharply from one local government to the next, from one week to the next; yet farmers, traders, households, food-relief agencies and policymakers largely rely on word of mouth, guesswork, or national averages that arrive a bit too late to act on.
ArketData closes that gap by providing on-time information. We have trained local agents in Nigeria's food markets to collect verified, real-time prices across 100+ commodities, and we turn that data into tools; web, analytics and price alerts that households, farmers, traders, businesses, NGOs and government can act on today. It is projected that between 16 million and 17 million Nigerians will need urgent humanitarian food assistance by late 2026. Eleven states recorded food inflation above 20% in the most recent reporting period.
Price transparency will not fix Nigeria's food system on its own but it removes one of the most persistent, solvable frictions inside it: nobody currently knows, in real time and at market level, what food actually costs and where. Arketdata provides this critical information.
